Many people who wait until the last minute to send Christmas cards and greetings find their choices more limited. But you can still send cards and reminders to freinds and family, even if you have just a few calendar days.

The biggest limiting factor in last-minute greetings is mailing time. Several options for faster mail services are available from the U.S. Postal Service, including priority and next-day service. For small quantities of greetings, these more-expensive options offer the guarantee of Christmas delivery to your loved ones.

One option to also consider, especially for friends living close to you, is hand delivery. There's also a personal touch provided by actually bringing greetings to someone's front door. Be sure, though, if you choose to hand-deliver greetings that you not put them in the recipient's mailbox--that's reserved for mail, and in some cases the Postal Service may charge you for mail that's found in the box without postage.

If you're just a few days from Christmas, consider also sending a New Year's greeting instead of a Christmas greeting. Mail delivery after the 25th of December is much faster, and your friends and family will still appreciate a warm and personal greeting during the holidays.
