Holiday Table Top Decor
You’ve trimmed the tree, tied a bow on the mailbox, hung a wreath on the front door—even had your mantle don holly and candlesticks. Now turn your attention to your dining room table to create a beautiful holiday presentation.

For a beautiful wood table, don’t cover it completely. Show it off in Christmas style by using a decorative table runner down the center. If you’re table is less presentable, choose a deep, rich and solid colored table cloth to cover it. Be sure to buy one sized for your table—you don’t want holiday guests tripping over a low-hanging cloth at Christmas dinner. 

If you have a formal dining room, consider a tall object at the very center—a vase or other container filled with holiday flowers or decorative greenery. Embellish the table with other objects. You can be thematic by using angels, or Santa and sleigh or tree decorations. Other themes include stars, Dickens’ Christmas Carol, candy, tropical, the North Pole and snowflakes. Whatever your theme, you’ll likely find dozens of fun props and decorations at your local hobby store.

Be sure the objects you decorate the table with are not too elaborate—you’ll want to be able to remove them easily to serve food, but then replace them during other holiday times when you are not using the table.
